Chocolate to my ears

As I just tweeted to Adam Levine, his voice is like chocolate to my ears. Plus he is a stone cold fox.

I recently officially completed my Maroon 5 collection and have been listening to this song non stop.

And this one,

If you're a Brewers fan...

Then you know why this picture is worth a million, trillion, bizillion words.

For the record I always knew Ryan Braun was innocent. So he should marry me. Please Ryan!

Beast mode.

Women of the Week

Sorry dudes, but girls rule! And this week I highlight two females that are cool. (Say this aloud, it kind of rhymes)

They might be polar opposites, with one a fictional character and the other a badass journalist, but I bet they would like each other if they met.

Peppy Miller
I usually try to play games with award winning movies by not seeing them because seeing all of them or picking a few to see is just too overwhelming! Then I am lamely relegated to watching crappy superhero flicks or whatever is available instantly on Netflix.

But, this year I stopped futzing around and saw The Artist.

I wasn't sure about this movie because I like color and talking. What? Movies are in color with noise? I forgot about those two generally crucial aspects of modern film because The Artist was so good!

I'm sure everyone has heard their fair share about this movie so I won't go into details.

What I will comment on is the main female lead, Peppy Miller. I knew I liked Peppy right away because her name was Peppy. Is this not the best? After I spent a few minutes thinking how my life would have been different had I been named Peppy (I would have learned to tap dance and I would do cool things like wink and always have my fingernails painted red), I got back to admiring her.

Bottom line, Peppy Miller is likeable. You want to be her or be her friend. She was fueled by her loyalty, love and admiration for Jean Dujardin. Not in a "I have no life because my life revolves around my guy" way. She is endearing. She knew what she wanted and went for it. She became a star!

Also, she does crazy tricks like this
MIND BLOWN
The second lovely lady I am giving a shout-out too is Andrea Mitchell.
I am reading her book, Talking Back: to Presidents, Dictators and Assorted Scoundrels.

Scoundrels in a book title! I'm sold! But really, I'm a political news junkie so this is right up my alley.

Currently, she hosts the show Mitchell Reports on MSNBC and is a regular on political talk show programs, like my favorite The Morning Joe. Andrea has been around a long time. She has staying power and is smart and talented. Because I am now an expert on her from reading 1/3 of her book so far, I know that she worked hard to get where she is having to start from the bottom and work her way up more than once. Right on sister. I need to finish her book and then I want to meet her.

You can follow her on Twitter: @mitchellreports

If you haven't seen The Artist, do. And if you don't know who Andrea Mitchell is, get to know her.

Some things I like that maybe other people don't like, but if you do we could be friends:

1. Walter from Fringe
Cute little man

2. Peeing in the shower. TMI? Not for people who also like to do this!

3. Trying out different accents. Right now I'm working to perfect South African and Australian accents. This has been difficult because all I can say in a semi decent South African accent is "South Africa."

4. The SyFy Channel. Now I know there are some others out there who agree with me on this one. Being Human and Ghost Hunters are the best. Does this make me a nerd? Yes, and I embrace it wholeheartedly. If you want to talk about paranormal activity I am so in.

5. Using British slang words in everyday conversation, saying them in an accent so everyone thinks I'm joking, but then really not be joking. I like "You daft cow!" and "Brilliant!" and "Oi!" and "Sod off."

With that, I say cheerio!

Grammy Beauties

I didn't watch the Grammys, but heard all the buzz. Especially about how wonderful Katy Perry and Adele looked.

And after some googling I can agree. Wow they were stunners.

Katy's blue dress put me in awe. And her hair! I love Katy Perry and boast to EVERYONE that a friend and I saw her in concert at the House of Blues in Chicago before she hit it big. Since that moment, I have had a special relationship with Kitty Katy. I sort of want to be her.

Also said to anyone that will listen, if I was a famous vixen I would dye my hair lavender. Please let this day come to be.

Oh my god Adele. Gorgeousity at it's finest.

And because I am on the same page as everyone or is everyone on the same page as me? Not. Here is a picture of the both of them together shining their beauty stars on us all!

Yogi tea quote

On this Valentine's Day morn I share with you the quote that came on my Yogi Green Tea Blueberry Slim Life tea bag:

"Grace is contentment."

Grace is my middle name so this is obviously the most profound saying ever said in the world/earth/the universe.

Les Jeunes de Paris

As of late "Les Jeunes de Paris" have been my favorite SNL skits, so I was thrilled when Ms. Zooey Deschanel made an appearance this past week on her wonderful SNL stint!

This skit especially makes me laugh because I watched programs eerily similar to "Les Jeunes de Paris"weekly in my French class while in college. So yeah, I'm cool.

Here she is!

And oh my god because of my girl crush on Emma Stone (and Zooey Deschanel) I couldn't help but reliving her jig on "Les Jeunes de Paris" as well.

musak

And this week I provide you with songs that I like and that you have probably already heard. But hey, A for effort!

In honor of her majesty Adele's sweep at the Grammys. "If It Hadn't Been For Love"

Next up, Goyte ft. Kimbra "Someone That I Used To Know"

Weird video...

Also, The Decemberists "Down By The Water"

And for good measure, "Over It And Over Again" She & Him

Lasagna

I made this lasagna the other night and am still thinking about it. I was referred to this recipe by my faithful health buddy. We exchange lots of helpful health and fitness tips and really keep each other motivated.

...this recipe has a lot of cheese in it, which makes me euphoric because eating cheese is one of my hobbies. So we're left thinking, how is this recipe healthy then? I don't really think it is, but it doesn't use any noodles so cheers to that! Death to carbs.

Is your moth watering? Because mine is.

Zucchini, cheese, tomato sauce, cheese, mushrooms, corn, cheese. Oh yeah and spinach was added because I am popeye.

The recipe came from the Skinny Chef.

LOVE

Alec Baldwin is my dream man.

Tina Fey is my idol.

30 Rock is holy.

Slap 'em and eat cupcakes

Slap 'em and eat cupcakes. My new motto.

I want shirts decaled with this slogan. I want people to scream it in the streets. I want Tina Fey to say it on 30 Rock or Zooey Deschanel to say it on New Girl.

I want to use it in a comforting, understanding manner like in response to a friend complaining to me about some woman who stole their parking spot at yoga "Ugh slap 'em and eat cupcakes." Or screaming it out of aggression when my Redbox dvd of Blue Valentine is so scratched that I basically have to just listen to the second half of the movie because the image quality is so poor (that was a weird experience, such a disappointing ending to that movie and Ryan Gosling balding is not so good). "SLAP 'EM AND EAT CUPCAKES!!!!" Or as an exciting terminology signaling the weekend "Slap 'em and eat cupcakes baby."

Slap 'em and eat cupcakes was born when I was texting my mom about how I was so frustrated I wanted to slap someone, then after I calmed down I texted her: I want cupcakes. Naturally we combined those two sentiments and came up with the most powerful catchphrase known to man! I am not an advocate of violence but someday I hope I get the chance to slap someone who really deserves it. I imagine this would be one of the most rewarding experiences right after seeing Michael Buble in concert (why can't I find how to do an accent aigu over the E in his last name??) and childbirth.

Also, I live for cupcakes so that's how that came into the mix.

Speaking of cupcakes, if you're looking for something fun to do why don't you sneak four cupcakes into a movie? That's what I did this past week and it was glorious. My mom and I (Am I always hanging out with my mom you ask? Yes I am) went to our favorite local bakery Bloom Bake Shop. Super cute, super yummy because they sell cupcakes, duh and also inventive things like "Brookies" a brownie cookie. I am DYING TO GET MY HANDS ON ONE OF THOSE. They also have vegan and gluten free nom noms.

I love this place because they had this.

After oogling at all the cupcake flavors we pranced out of there with half a dozen: vanilla bean, *chocolate peppermint, *decadent chocolate, *birthday cake, chocolate ganache (with cream cheese frosting) and *blueberry citrus.

Embarrassing that the only picture left was of the box. The cupcakes were gone.

The starred ones are the four we indulged in at the movie, which was The Woman in Black with Danny Dan Radcliffe i.e. Harry Potter. We stuffed the cupcakes in my purse and confidently strode into the theatre knowing technically we were breaking the rules. This was fun because breaking small rules gives me a sense of badassness. I feel like I am Drew Barrymore wild child or in The First Wives Club doing little mischievous things working to get back at my ass of a husband! Muha you don't own me.

THEY ARE STILL FRIENDS!

We ate the cupcakes before any of the scary things happened so we wouldn't choke (this means we ate them the second we sat down). Although, biting the dust choking on a cupcake at a movie having the time of my life wouldn't be the worst way to go.

And after the last crumb was demolished I know we both thought...

"Slap 'em and eat cupcakes."

Well yes, yes it is

I could eat hummus all day everyday. My personal S.O.S would be 'PLEASE SEND HUMMUS' except in morse code, which would then turn that plea into a collection of dots and dashes.

Note- The best hummus I have ever found and I've done some high and low searching is in Kensington, London at a restaurant called Ranoush Juice. Trust me. It is heavenly.

Fashion Flashback

Who would have thought that you can find fashion inspiration from the movie Major League?

Rene Russo looks so great in this movie and I'm loving her clothing, albeit very 80's inspired.

Other things Major League has going for it: Tom Berenger is foxy, Charlie Sheen as the Wild Thing is spot on, Bob Uecker is in it.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Exhibit C

Ok this movie was made in 1989, not ancient, so I don't know why most of the pictures I could find are in black and white but hopefully the fashionista point is still made.
